About MACHA

This is what we do

Mother and Child Health Association (MACHA) is a Swedish non-profit organization that works towards improving women’s and children’s health in a local and global perspective. The organization is politically and religiously unattached. Our work proceeds from the United Nations’ Convention of the Rights of the Child, CRC (1989), and Convention of the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women, CEDAW (1979).

MACHA works for equal access to healthcare and education for women and children. MACHA’s vision is a world where everyone is given the same opportunities and to a life in freedom, dignity and health. Equal conditions, equal opportunities.

MACHA works towards achieving the above goals by;

Working towards that girls and boys shall be treated equal with the same conditions and the same opportunities.

Working towards that girls and women shall have equal access to healthcare, education, social connections and paid labor.

Influence and change social and cultural norms that discriminates women and girls and limits them in their lives.

MACHA is today working in Kolkata and West Bengal (India) with its partner organization Institute for Indian Mother and Child (IIMC), and in Sweden through several projects to spread awareness of Global Health. MACHA is also cooperating closely with IFMSA Sweden.
